Son of Beast Demolished at Kings Island
MASON -- The problem child Son of Beast is now being demolished after less than 10 years in operation at Kings Island.Demolition crews at the amusement park brought down the roller coaster that was once billed as the tallest and fastest wooden coaster in the world, and the only roller coaster with a loop.An accident on the coaster in July 2006 sent more than two dozen riders to the hospital and the ride was closed for periods over the next few years, before being closed for good in 2009.A lawsuit was settled out of court in March 2011.September 25 coverage:Kings Island Begins Demolition of Son of BeastMASON -- It once held seven world records.
